Tribù has been the Belgian reference for sculpted, fully-upholstered outdoor seating since 1992. Founded by Jan Pauwels and designed across the years with Studio Segers, Wim Segers, Piergiorgio Cazzaniga and Monica Armani, the brand layers teak, rope detailing and full-cushion upholstery into terrace seating that reads as indoor furniture moved outside. Via della Seta sources Tribù directly for villa, penthouse and hospitality projects across the United States, Europe and the Middle East — handling specification, freight, customs and white-glove installation under one contract.

Why specify Tribù for an outdoor project

Tribù sits between the engineered-teak classicism of Royal Botania and the architectural restraint of Kettal, with the most layered textile programme of the major Belgian-and-Italian outdoor brands. Where Dedon leads with hand-woven fiber and Vondom leads with sculptural polyethylene, Tribù leads with full upholstery — outdoor sofas, lounge chairs and modular seating treated as if they belonged in a living room, with marine-grade cushions, teak frames and rope-bound detailing in the Vis-à-vis, Pure Sofa, Mood, Tosca, Senja and Branch collections.

For US specifications the technical advantages are concrete: teak frames are kiln-dried and engineered for full-weather resilience; cushions use solution-dyed acrylic or Sunbrella-grade textiles with quick-dry foams that survive rain without compromise; rope detailing is UV-stable polyester. Tribù recurs in coastal residences along the Atlantic and Pacific, Mediterranean-style projects in Florida and Southern California, and luxury resort terraces where the brief calls for outdoor furniture with the comfort and softness of indoor seating.

Via della Seta sources every Tribù collection — Vis-à-vis, Pure Sofa, Mood, Tosca, Senja, Branch, Elio, Kos, T-Sofa, Vint, Natal Alu and the rest — directly from the factory in Belgium. We coordinate the order with the rest of your FF&E specification, manage ocean or air freight, US customs clearance and white-glove delivery, and consolidate Tribù outdoor furniture into a single project shipment alongside indoor furniture, lighting, kitchens and smart home — under one contract and one timeline.

Care & maintenance

Teak frames

Untreated teak weathers to a silver-grey patina, structurally identical to the original honey tone. Apply teak oil once or twice per year if you prefer the warm colour. The colour shift is purely aesthetic.

Rope & textile detailing

UV-stable polyester rope and outdoor textiles resist fade, mould and mildew. Wipe down with mild soap and water as needed. Avoid abrasive cleaners that can damage rope detailing.

Cushions & upholstery

Solution-dyed acrylic and Sunbrella-grade fabrics with quick-dry foam cores. Most cushion covers are removable. Store during extended winters or use breathable covers — never seal in plastic.

Frequently asked questions

Where is Tribù furniture made?

Tribù is Belgian, founded in 1992 by Jan Pauwels. Production is based in Belgium with the brand's own technical control over teak selection, rope finishing, aluminum framing and cushion assembly.

How long does Tribù outdoor furniture last?

Tribù teak frames and aluminum framing are engineered for full year-round outdoor exposure and routinely deliver 12–18 years of outdoor service with basic care. Cushion programmes typically refresh every 8–10 years depending on UV exposure and use intensity.

Can I buy Tribù furniture in the United States through Via della Seta?

Yes. Via della Seta sources Tribù directly from Belgium for residential and hospitality projects across the United States — including coastal and Mediterranean-style residences in Florida, California and the Hamptons, mountain residences in Aspen and Park City, urban penthouses in New York and Miami, and resort projects nationwide. We handle specification, factory order, ocean freight, US customs clearance and white-glove delivery.

Does Tribù offer COM (Customer's Own Material) cushions?

Yes. The brand operates a full COM programme — designers and architects can specify cushions in fabrics from Sunbrella, Perennials, Maharam outdoor or any other approved outdoor textile. Lead times for COM cushions are 16–20 weeks rather than the standard 10–14.

Which Tribù collections work best for poolside or coastal projects?

All Tribù outdoor collections are rated for full-weather residential and hospitality use. For poolside and coastal residences Pure Sofa, Vis-à-vis, Mood and Tosca are common specifications; the cushion programme is designed for full UV exposure and quick-dry behaviour after rain.

How does Tribù compare to Dedon, Royal Botania and Kettal?

Dedon leads with hand-woven all-weather fiber and sculpted-organic silhouettes. Royal Botania is the engineered-teak and yacht-grade reference. Kettal is the architectural aluminum-and-teak choice with designer commissions from Urquiola, Morrison and the Bouroullecs. Tribù is the upholstery-led choice — fully cushioned outdoor sofas and lounge chairs with the comfort of indoor furniture, in teak, rope and aluminum frames. We specify across all four where the brief calls for it.

What are typical Tribù lead times for projects in the US?

Standard collections in cataloged finishes ship 10–14 weeks ex-factory. COM cushion fabrics, custom dimensions or contract-volume hospitality orders run 16–20 weeks. For projects with a fixed install date we recommend confirming the spec list at least 5 months out so freight and US customs clearance fit comfortably inside the schedule.
